German SEL OB/ZB field telephone - No receiver - Used

The German SEL OB/ZB field telephone is military communications equipment designed for use in difficult conditions, being used by the German army (Bundeswehr) for field telephone connections. Built in a sturdy bakelite casing, the device is portable and durable, suitable for tactical operations or military equipment collections.

The model runs on dry batteries (2 × 1.5 V) and has an internal call generator, allowing direct connection between two stations or integration into a telephone network.

The OB/ZB system indicates the possibility of operation with both a local battery (OB – the telephone has its own batteries and magneto for the ringer) and a central battery (ZB – power is supplied from a telephone exchange).

The telephone is a modernized version of previous field models and was widely used for reliable two-wire communications where other means were impractical.
