The latest edition of BaoFeng's popular UV-82 radio features two separate PTT buttons for each VFO, a redesigned antenna for more efficient signal modulation, and a 2800 mAh battery with fast charging via USB-C port.

The radio operates in dual-band mode, with a maximum power of 5 W, on the frequencies 144-146 MHz (RX) and 430-440 MHz (TX). In favourable weather conditions and with theoretical line of sight, it can achieve a communication range of several kilometres. It also has many useful features, including:

Backlit LCD screen and configuration menu with over 40 options.
Dual Watch function for simultaneous monitoring of two frequencies.
Memory for up to 128 channels.
Integrated FM receiver for frequencies 65-108 MHz, with automatic switching to the communication band when a signal is received.
Integrated LED flashlight for use in emergencies.
Selectable wideband and narrowband modes, with frequency step adjustment and transmission power switching.
105 DCS and 50 CTCSS codes for communication protection.
Hard polymer casing with rubberised buttons for comfortable use.
Detachable threaded antenna for easy transport.
Fast charging via desktop station or directly via the USB-C port of the 7.4 V, 2800 mAh battery.

The HTQ (High Transmission Quality) version offers optimised signal modulation, helping to maintain communication quality even in the presence of interference. Due to the protruding antenna, it is recommended to carry the station in a dedicated pocket for quick access and efficient operation regardless of the activities performed.
