The BaoFeng BF-T17 two-way radio set is designed for communication on the PMR446 band, without a license, subject to the applicable local regulations. The radios operate in simplex mode and feature 16 pre-programmed channels, allowing communication between multiple radios set to the same frequency and sub-code.

The antenna and a built-in LED flashlight are located on the top of the housing. The flashlight can be activated using a dedicated button.

The radio is controlled using the power/volume knob and navigation buttons, which allow you to select a channel, lock the keypad and activate the weak-signal monitoring mode.

The model features VOX, which enables voice-activated transmission, as well as an automatic channel scanning function.

Interference can be reduced using CTCSS (50 codes) and DCS (210 codes), as well as the noise reduction system with 10 adjustable levels.

The radios also feature a Time Out Timer (TOT) function, which automatically stops transmission after a certain period of continuous activity.

The set is powered by 3.7 V rechargeable batteries, which can be charged via a USB port. A full charge takes approximately 4–5 hours, and the LED indicator changes from red to green when charging is complete.

The automatic power-saving mode helps reduce energy consumption. The radios are equipped with a Jack output for connecting external audio accessories and belt clips for convenient attachment to a belt or pocket.
